Want to participate in the festival? UVSA offers several contests so that YOU can take part in one of the most memorable yearly events in the Vietnamese American community. Chinese Chess Contest (Thi Đánh Cờ Tướng): DEADLINE TO APPLY 1/31: Think you have what it takes to capture your opponents King? Sign up for the Chinese Chess Contest and put your army to the test. Applicants of all ages accepted. First place wins $200, 2nd place $100, and 3rd place $50.
Floral Arrangement Contest (Thi Cắm Hoa): DEADLINE TO APPLY 1/31: Spring is the perfect time to demonstrate your creativity, artistry, and flower-arranging skills and no better place to do it than at the Tet Festival. Applicants of all ages accepted. First place wins $200, 2nd place $100, and 3rd place $50.
Drawing Contest (Thi Vẽ): (pending) Presented by the Vietnamese American Arts and Letters Assocations, children of all ages gather to draw what Tet means to them. First place wins $200, 2nd place $100, and 3rd place $50.
Golden Voice Singing Contest (Thi Giọng Ca Vàng): DEADLINE TO APPLY 1/21: Think you have what it takes to wow the audience with your beautiful voice? Taking place on our main stage, the Golden Voice Singing Contest is your opportunity to showcase your vocals as well as entertain the audience in front of a panel of judges. First place wins $500, 2nd place $300, and 3rd place $200.
Children’s Culture Pageant (Trẻ Em Thi Quốc Phục Đẹp): DEADLINE TO APPLY 1/17: Children through the ages of 3 and 12 are presented on stage in traditional attire, greet the audience and the judges, and perform a talent in hopes of receiving a very nice lucky red envelope at the end. All children are awarded with prizes and gifts for their participation. First place wins a lucky red envelope with $200, 2nd place $100, and 3rd place $50.
Photography Contest (Thi Nhiếp Ảnh): Have you taken a photo that speaks a thousand words? Or captured a moment which you would like to share to the Vietnamese community? Submit your best photos and you may not only walk away with a cash prize but also be published in our annual festival publication Non Song. Applicants of all ages accepted. First place wins $250, 2nd place $150, and 3rd place $50.
Vietnamese Spelling Bee Contest (Thi Chính Tả): (pending) Presented by Trung Tam Viet Ngu, children participate in a Vietnamese spelling bee.
