UVSA
The Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California (UVSA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan, community-based organization, was founded in 1982 as a means for youth to organize socially and politically within the local community. Committed to cultural awareness, educating youth, and community service, the UVSA staff is composed of volunteers including UVSA alumni, young professionals, educators, and college and high school students.
A few of the activities that UVSA organize are the Tết Festival of Southern California; annual leadership camps for both high school and college students; an annual Black April Commemoration in remembrance of the Fall of Saigon; Inter-collegiate events such as galas, formals, college fairs, bonfires and friendship games; and other charitable events such as car washes, dinners, fundraisers, and concerts.
The member schools of UVSA include:
Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Fullerton, CSU Los Angeles, CSU Long Beach, CSU San Bernardino, Mt. San Antonio College, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, USC, and the Vietnamese American High School Alliance (VAHSA) with over twenty high schools.
